A sunroom, sun parlor, sun porch, or sun lounge is a area usually constructed onto the side or rear of a home which allows enjoyment of the surrounding landscape. Many options are available when building a new Sunroom in the sunshine state. Many builders are including a open porch which is a great place to build your sunroom and save by only building the walls under your existing roof. This room had an open porch and Jack Hall Jr’s Construction built this room with sliding glass windows with tinted glass for added privacy.
We feel it is important to maximize ventilation, light and build in such a way as the enclosure looks like it was build when the home was built. Remember glass Sunrooms require electric to code in the sunroom and 1 switchable outlet with a light outside the door. It is important to keep in mind Fire egress. If a bedroom exit opens to your porch or patio to be enclosed you will have to meet fire code egress which requires a large window in that bedroom meeting the square footage requirement of the Florida building code. We insulate the entire wall area on the kick and the header so your room remains comfortable year round.
Adding this valuable room improves your quality of life and your property value. We find many customers use these rooms to accommodate family and friends visiting when extra room is valuable. Jack Hall Jr believes most rooms have the best feel when maximizing glass and vent able screen area. He also recommends using Low E glass packages when the area of the enclosure get more direct sunlight. This technology will keep this room much cooler in Florida’s extended Summer heat.
The majority of our Sunroom customers here in Florida do not heat and cool their patio enclosures. It is important to decide if your air conditioner will be sufficient to heat and cool this area before designing your room. We can also build your screen room so it is less expensive and easier if you decide to enclose it at a later date.
